Hudson senior Charlie Skinner wrapped up his high school career with a pair of top ten finishes and anchored the Raiders’ 400 yard freestyle relay team to a seventh place finish at the WIAA Division 1 State Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison.
Hudson finished 14th out of 39 teams represented at the state meet with 60 points. Madison Memorial won the team title with 326.
Skinner took seventh in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 51.94 seconds, one-tenth of a second behind Madison West’s Jesse O’Keefe, and eighth in the 200 yard individual medley in 1 minute, 55.63 seconds.
R.J. Lieferman of Middleton won the 100 butterfly title with a time of 50.37 seconds while Alex DeLakis of Eau Claire North/Memorial won the 200 individual medley in 1:51.54.
Sophomore Willie Skinner also competed in two individual events and placed 15th in the 500 yard freestyle in 4:58.19 and 16th in the 50 yard freestyle in 22.4 seconds. Noah Potraz of Waukesha South won the 500 freestyle title in 4:38.73 while Ben Anderson of Madison Memorial took the 50 free in 21.13 seconds.
Charlie and Willie Skinner also teamed up with sophomores August Jorgensen and Sawyer Arndt for a seventh place time of 3:17.43 in the 400 yard freestyle relay, just behind Waukesha South’ sixth place time of 3:16.01. Madison Memorial finished first in 3:11.34.
In the 200 yard medley relay, Charlie Skinner, Willie Skinner, sophomore Miles Townsend and sophomore Ross Wusterbarth finished 12th in 1:41.77. Madison Memorial was first in 1:34.68.
