Eighth-graders make ‘Let’s Move in School’ dance video

The eighth-grade class at Hudson Middle School performed a mass dance in the school gym on Monday that was video-recorded for a possible screening at a national convention of physical education teachers.
If selected, the video will be shown on March 15 at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance convention in Boston.
Schools around the country were invited to submit videos of students doing the choreographed hip-hop dance set to music by Mozart as part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move in School” initiative to promote physical fitness and fight child obesity.
A group of eighth-grade girls in Georgia Krusell’s physical education classes at Hudson Middle School learned the dance from You Tube and taught it to the rest of the class.
The student instructors included Shantel Koeckeritz, Briana Cravens, Justine Ploeger, Alexa Marlow (the first to learn the whole dance), Madison Miller, Madison Wisse, Kaitlyn McKenzie and Tasha Clark.
The girls talk about the experience and what they expect from their classmates just prior to the video-recording in one of the accompanying videos. The second video shows the eighth-graders doing the day.
“The girls have done an amazing job. I’m very proud of them,” Krusell said of the student dance instructors.
Eighth-grade P.E. and health teachers Mike Stoskopf and Ryan Jamieson also assisted with the effort.
