The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office will intensify its traffic safety enforcement to combat drunken driving and increase seatbelt use March 5-21 over St. Patrick’s Day.
“During the St. Patrick’s Day mobilization and throughout the year, we are striving to prevent motorists from killing and injuring themselves and other on our roadways,” said Sheriff John Shilts. “We are serious about traffic safety and enforcement because too many needless deaths and injuries are due to drunken driving and failure to wear safety belts.”
A $50,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety funds part of the increased enforcement program.
