Four Hudson Destination Imagination teams competed in an early West Central Regional in Prescott on Feb. 25 because of conflicts with the St. Croix Regional Tournament set for March 24 in Spooner.
Eighteen other teams in the Hudson DI program will attend the Spooner event.
These four teams, along with any other Hudson teams that might advance after the St. Croix Regional, will compete at the DI State Competition in Stevens Point on Saturday, April 14.
The Hudson Middle School team, VP Productions, took first place out of ten teams at the middle school level in their challenge “Coming Attractions.” The challenge focused around creating a movie trailer for a team-imagined movie with characters from at least two nations, a sound track and a visual special effect.
The team also received a Renaissance Award for exceptional skill in the areas of engineering, design and performance. The appraisers cited the team’s simple and well constructed scenery, the professional and technically perfect use of projection within the trailer, and the moving concept of their performance in their nomination of the team for this award.
