Sportsman’s Benefit set for March 20

The St. Croix County Sportsman’s Alliance will be holding their 31st annual Sportsman’s Benefit at the American Legion Post Number 240 in Baldwin on Tuesday, March 20. This is an ongoing endeavor first started in 1982 to benefit the sportsmen of the local area. All the money generated at the benefit goes into a segregated fund, which is dedicated to conservation projects and habitat work throughout St. Croix County. For tickets or more information, contact Jim Sandfort at (715) 386-9625.

DNR has new website

The Department of Natural Resources website, dnr.wi.gov, has been redesigned to make it easier to find information, to buy licenses online or to access permit applications. In addition to a cleaner design and improved search functions, the new website highlights outdoor activities for all seasons, department news and provides links to its social media sites. Visitors also will see a feedback link in the footer to provide comments.

Camping permits available

The National Park Service (NPS) at the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway announces that the annual permit required for camping on the Lower St. Croix River is now available. The permit is required for anyone camping along the St. Croix River between St. Croix Falls, Taylors Falls, Minn., and the Soo Line high bridge. Camping in this area is limited to designated campsites accessible only by watercraft. The camping permit is available free of charge at the St. Croix River Visitor Center. The visitor center is located at 401 North Hamilton Street in St. Croix Falls and can be reached at (715) 483-2274. It is currently open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Beginning Saturday, April 14, the visitor center will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The application for a permit is also available online at www.nps.gov/sacn for people to print, read, sign, and mail to the visitor center. After reviewing the application, NPS staff will mail the permit.
