Swimmers record new personal best times
Hudson Area Swim Association was represented by 30 athletes at an A/B Final meet in Richfield, Minn., March 2-4, and recorded 100 new personal best times.
Hudson Area Swim Association was represented by 30 athletes at an A/B Final meet in Richfield, Minn., March 2-4, and recorded 100 new personal best times. At an A/B Finals Meet, the goal of each swimmer is to cut enough time to qualify for the Minnesota State Short Course Championships, to be held in Rochester, Minn., this weekend, March 16-18. Several new Champ times were recorded throughout the weekend, including Zach Aherns, 12, in the 100 Individual Medley, Shane Blinkman, 11, in the 200 Butterfly, Maria Blinkman, 12, in the 100 Freestyle, Emilia Reynolds, 13, in the 50 Freestyle, and Ella Stein, 9, who qualified in both the 50 breaststroke and the 100 breaststroke.
Other standout swims during the course of the weekend included Justin Aherns, 15, who shaved 8.35 seconds off the 500 freestyle and 25.25 seconds off the 1650 freestyle, Zach Aherns cut 35.89 seconds off the 500 freestyle, Steven Asmus, 9, cut 9.47 seconds off the 200IM, Nicole Berdusco, 14, who had 10 personal best times over the weekend, including cutting 37.23 seconds off her 1650 free and 55.13 seconds off her 1000 free. Emilia Reynolds cut 27.37 seconds of her 400 IM and over 52 seconds off her 1000 freestyle, while Alex Weaver, 10, cut nearly 10 seconds off his 200IM.
These HASA swimmers also posted great swims: Hannah Alwin, Matt Baker, Rachel Baker, Adam Berdusco, Cale Blinkman, Sophia Daley, Tatum Dietz, Afton Eisch, Maree Elliott, Sydney Glampe, Madison Gunderson, Brian Hause, Madeline Pasche, John Cooper Ramthun, Grace Schmidt, Samantha Troyer, Kelly Waid, Ella Young, Kira Young, and Daniel Zeuli.
HASA trains year round at the Hudson Middle School, and competes throughout Minnesota. After the state swimming championships HASA swimmers take a two week break, then resume again on April 2 for our spring session. HASA annual meeting is April 10
The Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) will hold its annual meeting, Tuesday, April 10, from 6-6:30 p.m. at the Hudson Middle School. All past and present members are invited to attend as a new slate of Board candidates will be presented as well as a “State of our Club” presentation.
