Junior Achievement is looking for volunteers for their elementary school program in Hudson. The program compliments the students’ core classroom curriculum in social studies, reading, writing, mathematics and critical thinking skills as they explore and enhance their understanding of free enterprise economics.
Over 3,000 Hudson students will receive JA programs this school year if volunteers can be found for the 20 remaining spring sessions. Volunteers are required to spend 35-45 minutes a day for five days. The class dates and times are left to the volunteer and the teacher to work out after the match between teacher and volunteer is made.
Before a new volunteer participates in a JA training, they receive a kit of JA classroom materials specific to the grade level they have agreed to teach. The kit gives step-by-step directions for teaching each of the JA lessons. Volunteer training is also available on-line.
To volunteer contact the Learning Services Office at the district’s Administrative Services Center at (715)377-3705 or email kelleyak@hudson.k12.wi.us. More information is also available at www.jaum.org
