SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION LETTERS

Letter: Will vote for Leaf

Dear Editor,

I am writing in support of Cathy Leaf’s candidacy for Hudson School Board in the April 3 election. I have known Cathy in numerous capacities for nearly 18 years and believe she, as a board member, will represent community and district interests in an informed and open manner.

Cathy’s training as an agricultural education teacher has prepared her to listen and relate to the concerns of parents, teachers, staff and students with an educator’s logic. She knows the importance of providing a quality education but within budget. Some of her district goals include manageable class sizes, growth in the use of technology and foreign language studies, solutions to the overcrowding in our schools, and a quality education for all students whether or not they continue in post-secondary education studies.

As a North Hudson business owner, she understands the fiscal concerns of a community who seeks wise decisions on how our tax dollars are spent. An independent thinker, Cathy will take your concerns into consideration when making financial decisions, but is able to compromise when finding a common ground is necessary to move forward on a decision.

I believe Cathy will bring a unique perspective as an educator and a business owner to the Hudson School Board. I encourage your vote for Cathy Leaf on April 3.

Letter: Supports Bell and Holland

Dear Editor,

I have been privileged to work closely over the years with Brian Bell and Tom Holland. Brian and I served on the “2004 Task Force” focusing on our district’s space needs at that time. Brian asked many probing questions and provided great leadership throughout the lengthy analysis. I serve on the Hudson YMCA Board and worked closely with Tom when he was the Hudson YMCA Executive Director. Tom is caring and thoughtful and provided excellent leadership for our YMCA. Both gentlemen have provided forward-thinking leadership for our district. I hope you will join me in re-electing Tom Holland and Brian Bell.

Letter: Backs Bruch for board

Dear Editor,

As I reflect on my own learning, it is not so much the substance of what I learned but the processes I developed to keep learning throughout my life. The jargon term life-long learning, but the reality is that whatever you call it, I have found it to be the most important ingredient to life’s successes, failures, and disappointments.

I have found it is so refreshing to hear Liz Bruch admit that at her age she is most energized by continually learning new things. She surely exudes current knowledge, wise judgment, and enthusiasm, for a challenging future. But it is her passion for learning that I want to filter through the school board to our teachers and especially then to our students. She has a passion for life-long learning, critical thinking, living with integrity, and embracing life. Please join me in voting for her on the 3rd of April.

Letter: Vote Holland and Bell

Dear Editor,

I support both Tom Holland and Brian Bell for re-election to our school board. Both have a proven track record and have served our community and our students very well. Over the past six years they have been instrumental in bringing new curriculum to the district helping our students to compete in today’s global economy. They have also have been excellent stewards of our tax dollars and were pivotal in allowing the district to address a very challenging economic environment while preserving sports, music, art, and an expanded curriculum.

I have known Tom and Brian for many years and I believe that they are dedicated, hard-working volunteers who care a great deal about our community and our children. They are strong leaders who will responsibly guide and manage our schools with a practical, common sense approach.

Please vote on April 3 to return Tom and Brian to the Hudson School board.

Jim Lutiger, Hudson
