Dear Editor,
For the life of me I cannot understand why the school board lovers would purchase a full page ad in the Star-Observer just to list the names of the people that support the referendum. What’s the point? Listing the opinion of two or three hundred people in a district that has eight or nine thousand possible voters. Here are a few of the reasons I could think of….
Did the vote “yes” coalition take out a full page ad in the Star-Observer to list the names of referendum supporters because…
If any person on the list forgot where they stood on the issues, they could check the list.
If any person on the list had trouble spelling their names on the ballot, they could check the list.
If any Van Loenen supporters wanted to know why she was voted off the board, they could check the list.
If Superintendent Mary is looking for someone to mow her lawn, she could check the list.
If money man Erickson is looking for people to help pay for the costs of the propaganda blitz, he could check the list.
If a Nigerian banker dies leaving 10 million dollars to his nephew Cabool, and in order to collect, Cabool needs to find someone who will pay the taxes in advance in return for half the money, he could check the list.
If any snake oil salesmen wander through the valley and are in need of patrons, they could check the list.
If the Russians drop the bomb and the government needs to find some people to be sacrificed in order for the rest of us to survive, they could check the list.
If the government launches a study on the long term effects of lead and needs to find adults who as children ate paint chips like they were Pez, they could check the list.
If it finally comes out that the SCM property has developed mold and we need people to blame, we could check the list.
These are just a few of the reasons I could think of why referendum supporters would purchase a full page ad in the paper just to list their names.
