Willow River Music and Art Show is Friday

The focus is on living artists, both the pros and students, at the eighth annual Willow River Music and Art Show Friday, April 20, from 5-9 p.m.

Professional artist and Willow River parent Genie Castro has headed up the spring event since it began. As in past years, teachers and parent volunteers work with students at every grade level to learn about different artists, their style and medium.

This year the focus is on living artists. Once they understand the artist, the students collaborate on a group art project that reflects the work of someone they studied.

The student work will be exhibited at the show along with work from 40 or more area artists whose work will also be for sale. A portion of proceeds from any sales will go to benefit the Willow River Parent Group which supports enrichment activities at the school throughout the year.

The show will also include live music and dance performances by students along with refreshments. Willow River Elementary is located at 1118 Fourth St. For more information call (715) 338-6766.
