Last October Americans turned in more than 377,000 pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,300 sites operated by the DEA and close to 4,000 state and local law enforcement partners. The initiative addresses a public safety and health issue created by prescription drug abuse, accidental poisoning and overdoses, and improper disposal.
