Hudson business owner honored for giving back

Kathy Benson of Twin River LLC in Hudson was among the businesswomen honored as members and supporters of women’s economic development at the The Women’s Business Development Center –Minnesota (WBDC-MN) sixth annual Celebration of Success on March 8 in Minneapolis.

Benson received the “Giving Back Award” in acknowledgement of her contributions to the success of the WBDC-MN, its certified WBEs, and the women’s business community in front of more than 200 women entrepreneurs, corporate supplier diversity representatives, and local community partners.

Benson started Twin River, a contract packaging company, in 2009 and depending on the contract can employ more than a dozen workers. She previously operated Eagle Packaging for more than 15 years with her former husband.

Benson said she has benefitted from association with the WBDC and has enjoyed her involvement with the organization and the opportunity to work with and mentor other women business owners.

Since its launch in 2003, the WBDC-Minnesota has developed a powerful network of over 300 women’s business enterprises (WBEs). With combined revenues of over $3.2 billion, this network of women-owned businesses is targeting Fortune 500 corporations as clients, as well as doing business with each other.

Benson’s son, Jason, is the production manager of Twin River and was on hand with other family and friends to see his mother honored.
