Two Hudson teams head to DI international competition

Hudson will again be well-represented at this year’s Destination Imagination Global Competition later this month in Knoxville, Tenn.

Hudson will again be well-represented at this year’s Destination Imagination Global Competition later this month in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Hudson Middle School seventh-grade team of Elliot Wareham, Andy Richardson, Kate Malanaphy, Emily Schlepp, Jack Johnson, Ethan Kepulis and Grace Kazak are managed by Kathy Kepulis and Tom Wareham.

Representing Hudson High School will be veteran DI competitors Ty Davis, Erin Coyer, Kevin Pelzel and Seana Greene. Their team manager is Roger Davis.

A series of fund-raisers are planned to help the teams pay for their trip to the competition:

  • Thursday, May 10: Bake sale, duct tape products, “green” coffee bags and more at Hudson Middle School Academic Open House.

  • Friday, May 11: Walmart bake sale and sales of handmade Mother’s Day gifts.

  • Tuesday, May 15: fund-raiser at Bayport BBQ, eat-in or take-out, $10 tickets. DI performances, bake sale and handmade goods sold; contact bayportbbq@comcast.net.

  • Sunday, May 20: Family Fresh hot dog stand fund-raiser, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., followed by DIrty DItches garbage clean-up downtown Hudson; pledges-per-pound of garbage cleaned up gratefully accepted.

    Donations to help these teams attend global finals can also be mailed to Hudson School District, Attn: Anita Stilwell, Hudson DI, 644 Brakke Drive, Hudson WI 54016.
