St. Croix County continues a search to fill two staff positions.
Administrator Pat Thompson told the board of supervisors Tuesday, May 1, he is in the process of recruiting a new finance director and a new planning and zoning director to fill vacancies.
“At this point, I’m not ready to recommend a candidate (for finance director),” he said. “I want to take time and do this right. We are looking for a top candidate.”
Thompson said he has interviewed five candidates, but has some additional questions.
“It’s worth taking a pause, going back and casting a wider net and bringing forth another slate of candidates,” Thompson said.
The administrator said eight candidates have been selected for interviews for the planning and zoning job. The interviews were set for May 15 and 16.
The two positions were vacated with the resignation of Michelle Pietrick as finance director to pursue a job in the Twin Cities and the retirement of Dave Fodroczi as planning and zoning director.
Thompson also took time to acknowledge praise directed toward two county employees, Annette Massie in the Information Technology department and Jennifer Havens, recycling specialist.
The women received kudos from two outside firms they helped with particular projects, said Thompson.
He said it was important to point out “our employees’ good work.”
“Part of our strategic plan is good customer service,” Thompson said.
