Memorial Day services set Monday
Memorial Day observances are scheduled Monday, May 28 in the Hudson area at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at 9 a.m. and Willow River Cemetery at 10:15 a.m. Services at Lakeview (Lakeland) and Afton cemeteries will follow the Willow River ceremonies.
Memorial Day observances are scheduled Monday, May 28 in the Hudson area at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at 9 a.m. and Willow River Cemetery at 10:15.
The presentations are sponsored by American Legion Post 50 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2115. John Schommer of Hudson will give the address at Willow River Cemetery. He is a local insurance agent and a member of American Legion Post 50.
The Willow River service will be held rain or shine and includes members of the Boy Scouts, Hudson High School band, Miss Hudson royalty and local veterans, including a military salute by the American Legion-VFW Honor Guard.
The service at St. Patrick’s Cemetery includes a military salute by the American Legion-VFW Honor Guard and a Mass that will be held in St. Patrick Church if inclement weather develops.
Services at Lakeview (Lakeland) and Afton cemeteries will follow the Willow River ceremonies at approximately 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. respectively.
Members of the Memorial Day Committee include Gordon Knudson, John Helgeson, Merlin Blaisdell and Wanda Plourde. James Fosse is commander of VFW Post 2115 and Gordon Knudson is commander of American Legion Post 50.
