Recall election is Tuesday

The highly anticipated governor recall election is Tuesday, June 5, with area polls opening at 7 a.m.

The highly anticipated governor recall election is Tuesday, June 5, with area polls opening at 7 a.m.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker is being challenged by Democrat Tom Barrett, Mayor of Milwaukee. Barrett defeated four other Democratic candidates in a May 8 primary.

Also on the ballot are candidates for lieutenant governor. Republican Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch is being challenged by Democrat Mahlon Mitchell, who also was the primary winner in May.

All polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Polling locations are:

  • Town of Hudson, Town Hall, 980 County A;

  • Town of St. Joseph, Town Hall, 1337 County V;

  • Town of Troy, Town Hall, 654 Glover Road;

  • Village of North Hudson, Village Hall, 400 Seventh St. N.; and

    City of Hudson

  • Districts 1 & 5, City Hall, 505 Third St.

  • Districts 3 & 4, United Methodist Church, 1401 Laurel Ave.

  • Districts 2 & 6, St. Croix County Government Center, 1101 Carmichael Road.

    If a person wants to vote by absentee ballot at a municipal office, it must be done by 5 p.m. Friday, June 1. For absentee voting by mail, check with your municipal clerk. Registration is allowed at the polls Tuesday, June 5.
