St. Paul man makes first court appearance in stolen car chase case

A St. Paul man arrested in a suspected stolen car incident that started at a gas pump in Baldwin and accelerated in a chase down I-94 made an initial appearance in St. Croix County Circuit Court May 23 on multiple charges.
Terrance Wayne Johnson, 24, St. Paul, was ordered to post $3,000 cash bail on felony driving without consent, fleeing an officer, reckless endangerment and misdemeanor theft and obstruction charges.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s report said on May 21 an officer noticed an SUV-type vehicle leaving Ray’s Southside Truck Stop at a high rate of speed and pursued the car in a chase that reached 100 mph speeds. The chase was suspended based on a suspected gas drive-off then renewed when a report came in that the car was stolen at the truck stop.
A woman filled up with gas then went into the store when Johnson allegedly jumped in the car ant took off, the criminal complaint said.
The chase reached 105-110 mph. near exit 4, stop sticks were placed. The SUV ran over them and deflated two tires. At exit 2 the car exited onto the ramp but continued west on the freeway until it finally became disabled, the sheriff’s report said.
