HASA kicks off spring/summer season
The Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) kicked off its spring/summer season May 4 by attending a Pre-C meet in Farmington, Minn. Each of the seven swimmers representing HASA swam three events.

Karina Gilson, 10, finished sixth in the 50 yard breaststroke, dropping 3.5 seconds off her previous best time. She also cut 3.54 seconds in the 50 freestyle and competed in the 100 freestyle for the first time ever.
Ethan Alwin, 9, dropped nearly 10 seconds in his 50 backstroke to finish ninth overall. He also dropped 2.74 seconds in the 50 freestyle and competed in the 100 freestyle.
Joy Rambo, 9, and Jackson Kunkle, 7, also swam the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 50 backstroke, while Ali Johnson, 8, Richard Rambo, 11, and Ryan Rambo, 7, all competed in the 50 freestyle, the 50 backstroke, and 50 breaststroke.
Johnson, Kunkle, and the Rambo brothers are all new swimmers who recently joined the swim club. This was their first competition representing HASA.
HASA also competed at an “A Only” meet at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul May 12-13.
Hannah Alwin, 10, competed in the 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle, dropping .27 of a second in her freestyle.
Rachel Baker, 10, dropped 1.06 seconds in the 100 individual medley and also swam the 50 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle. Alex Weaver, also 10, swam in the 200 individual medley, where he dropped nearly a second, and the 100 freestyle.
Cale Blinkman, 11, competed in six events, including the 50 breaststroke, where he finished second overall, and the 200 breaststroke, where he finished fifth. Shane Blinkman, also 11, swam in five events, taking first in the 200 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, second in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle, and third in the 500 freestyle, cutting nearly four seconds off his previous best time.
HASA is a non-profit swim club serving youth in the Hudson and surrounding areas, practices in the Hudson Middle School and competes regularly though out Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
