"Beautiful light" is the translation for the name "Bella Luce". In this case the translation is true. From the moment you walk into the Bella Luce Boutique, near the waterfront, you are surrounded by light. From Swarovski crystal enhanced Christine Alexander clothing to jewelry of every kind, light radiates from everywhere.
James and Dianne Linden, Houlton, are the new owners of “Hudson’s Hidden Treasure on the St. Croix River.” The couple purchased the business in February. Since then they have been tailoring it slightly, with a new logo, reflecting the Italian based name, a new canopy and much more.
James retired a year ago as a pharmacy administrator and Dianne, has an online design business with several national accounts, creating custom designs for cotton throws.
“I always wanted a brick and mortar shop,” said Dianne, who did interior decorating as well. “This is my dream and his nightmare.”
The couple is enthusiastic about their new endeavor.
“It is just a beautiful setting,” said Dianne. The small shop is big on product with 30 percent more inventory including home décor items all contained in a welcoming atmosphere, with a view of the river and a cozy fireplace. “We have something for everyone.” That includes handmade “Cotswold” sheep created by a craftsperson in Michigan, the home décor item features the long curly wool of the breed.
“The message we want people to know is that along with new owners the shop has new product lines, a new look, new courtyard and a new attitude,” said James. The courtesy courtyard is open in the back of the shop and it offers customers a space to relax, an area for “girls night out parties” as well as shopping parties.
They have added an alterations service for their customers.
“It has been a positive for the shop,” said Dianne. “We offer a quick turn around and the workmanship is amazing.”
A grand opening is planned for June 14 through June 17.
