Monday night’s meeting of the Hudson City Council is no doubt one of the shortest on record.

A mere six minutes lapsed from when Mayor Alan Burchill led the Pledge of Allegiance to the motion adjourning the meeting.

The council approved $257,588 in payments –$197,102 for payroll and $60,485 for other bills.

It also approved 11 bartender licenses, a temporary bartender’s license, an amusement device owner’s license for Namco Entertainment Inc., and taxicab licenses for A Taxi/Hudson Taxi and Kilimanjaro Taxicab Services.

The council received a written update on public and private construction projects from consulting city engineer Dennis Postler of Foth Infrastructure and Environment.

Postler wrote that bids on crack-filling and patching selected city streets will be opened June 20 and brought to the council at its June 25 meeting.

He said preparation work is being done to mill and overlay Carmichael Road from Vine Street to the middle school entrance, and to reconstruct Grandview Drive from Vine to Ash streets.

An alley north of River Street between Sixth and Seventh streets also will be reconstructed this summer.

Postler said he anticipated the projects being put out for bids in July, with construction scheduled for mid-August through September.
