Hudson Lions presented $1,000 scholarships to each of two graduating Hudson High School seniors. Brooke Brokaw and Brett DuCharme, at the club’s annual meeting last week. The scholarship winners were chosen because they live the Lion motto, "We Serve," having been active over several years while maintaining quality scholastic performance.
Brokaw, daughter of Andrew and Pamela Brokaw, has been active in the St. Croix Valley Youth Court, Hats from the Heart with the United Way, and Youth Action Hudson in addition to other volunteer work. She plans to attend UW-River Falls to study journalism.
DuCharme, son of Dan and Stacy DuCharme, has been involved in Youth Action Hudson, Red Cross blood drives, Hearts and Hammers, Camp St Croix and Feed My Starving Children, among other activities. He plans to attend UW-Madison to study chemical engineering.
The two were chosen from a large number of applicants this year, according to Jody Bakken, committee chair. For more information on the Hudson Lions or an application for membership, go to HudsonSunriseLions.com or http://TheHudsonLions.org.
