The 2012 Hudson Booster Days kick off Thursday, June 28.
The action gets underway on Thursday, with the carnival beginning at 5 p.m. Reduced ride specials will be offered from 5-9 p.m. on the opening day. The carnival will also be open from 1 p.m. to close on Friday and 12:30 p.m. to close on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Booster Days’ Parade will be on Second Street starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. Randy Lau will serve as the Grand Marshal for this year’s parade. The event will be followed by a K-9 demonstration starring Officer Bob Larson and K-9 Brisco next to the band shell.
The three food stands, offering complete meals, will be available starting Friday from 4 p.m. to midnight. The stands will open again from noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
The Beer Garden starts up at 4 p.m. on Friday and goes until 1 a.m. in the morning. Saturday, the garden will be open from noon to 1 a.m., while it will be available from noon to midnight on Sunday.
As always, there will be a plethora of live entertainment throughout the weekend. Friday will offer two performances, with “Picture Perfect” leading off from 6-8:15 p.m. followed by “Boogie Wonderland”, who will be on stage from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Saturday will feature three performances, starting with “Blatant Youth” from 1-4:30 p.m. The second act of the day will be “Parachute Empire,” performing from 5-8:20 p.m. The nightcap will be “Uncle Chunk” from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Sunday’s performances wrap up the event with a bang. “Jambo Joe Bones” will be on stage from 1-3:20 p.m. “Farewell Milwaukee” performs from 4-7 p.m. and “Devon Worley” will cap off the event with his performance from 7:40-11:20 p.m. There is no cover charge for bands.
The weekend will offer three different Ride & Drive events. The Luther’s Hudson Chevrolet/GMC Ride & Drive will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday. Luther’s Hudson Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep event will go from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, while the Hudson Ford Ride & Drive is from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday.
Bingo will be available next to the band shell Friday-Sunday. It will be open from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, 1-10 p.m. Saturday, and 1-9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Sunday features multiple events for the whole family. The Kids’ Fishing Contest in Lakefront Park will run from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the Kids’ Tractor Pull, free for ages 12 and under, is from 1-3 p.m. The Bean Bag Tournament will take place next to the band shell beginning at noon. The entrance fee is $15 per person and that fee includes two free beverages. The tournament is limited to 32 teams. Anyone interested in participating should contact Pete at (715) 386-8386. The 13th annual Hot Dog Eating Contest will go from 4-5 p.m. and will feature twenty kids and twenty adults. The public can register for the event at RJ’s Fresh Meats & Groceries at 1100 Coulee Road.
The weekend culminates with the fireworks over the St. Croix River at dusk on Sunday night.
