Letters-Stop for pedestrians

Dear Editor,
I run quite often in Hudson and I would like to alert all drivers that when they see a person in a marked crosswalk (they are typically marked with white lines and a pedestrian sign) that the law requires them to slow down or stop for the person crossing the street.
Drivers are notorious for ignoring the marked crosswalk on Stageline Road near Heritage Green. Stageline Road also has red flags that pedestrians can carry when walking/running across the street which brings me to my second point. When you are the pedestrian, please use the flag. The flags are there for your safety and it is your right to cross the street safely. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen adults with young children and pets almost get hit by a car at this crossing. The marked crossings are there for everyone’s protection.
