A car lies overturned on a freeway ramp guardrail after a four-vehicle crash Friday night on the Interstate 94 Exit 1 interchange.

Police say the accident was caused by Nicholas J. Doyle, 28, of Prescott, who was taken to the St. Croix County Jail on charges of causing injury by intoxicated driving and violating his probation.

A Wisconsin State Patrol spokesperson said Doyle was traveling south on Hwy. 35 (Second Street) and attempting to get on eastbound I-94 when his car failed to negotiate the on-ramp curve, went through a median, and struck three vehicles that were leaving the freeway on the eastbound off-ramp. The crash occurred at about 9 p.m.

The State Patrol’s report on the accident wasn’t completed as of Tuesday.
