HASA swimmers compete in Anoka
Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) sent 13 athletes to compete in a two-day meet in Anoka, Minn., on June 16 and 17. Violet Penman, 12, was named HASA swimmer of the meet due to her strong performance at this meet.
Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) sent 13 athletes to compete in a two-day meet in Anoka, Minn., on June 16 and 17. Violet Penman, 12, was named HASA swimmer of the meet due to her strong performance at this meet. Violet competed in eight events, and cut time in seven of them, including the 50, 100, and 500 freestyle events, the 100IM and 200IM, 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke.
Ella Stein, 10, also had an outstanding weekend, competing it the 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 100 IM, and the 200 breaststroke and achieving personal best times in all four events. Ella also broke a HASA team record in the 200 breaststroke.
Other memorable races were recorded by Harvey Holmstadt, 7, who swam in five events and cut time in all of them, including dropping over nine seconds in the 50 freestyle, over 13 seconds in the 50 backstroke, and 65.58 seconds in the 100 freestyle. Other HASA swimmers competing this weekend were Stephen Asmus, Cale Blinkman, Maria Blinkman, Shane Blinkman, Sydney Glampe, Frances Holmstadt, John Cooper Ramthun, Samantha Troyer and Alex Weaver.
HASA practices at the Hudson Middle School year and competes regularly throughout Minnesota.
