The Western Wisconsin Photography Club will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. in the River Room at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Jeff Bucklew and Chuck Jentlie will give a presentation on high dynamic range (HDR) imaging. This is a technique in which the photographer will make several exposures of the same scene and then, with the use of software, will use information from all the exposures to create a single image. The process compensates for the loss of detail in both dark and bright areas, and the resulting image will represent more accurately the range of intensity levels found in real scenes. Shown above is MH Horses by Michael Huber, an example of HDR imaging. Images submitted by club members will be shared and critiqued following the presentation. This meeting is free and open to the public. The club is a group of photography enthusiasts of all ages, abilities and equipment and is a member of the Camera Council, which includes 20 member clubs in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month and all are welcome to come for an evening or to become a member.
