Jordan Cullen wins USA Cycling National Championship

Jordan Cullen of Hudson won two national championship events at the USA Cycling Junior National Track Championships held July 11-15 in Trexlertown, Penn.

Just one day after his 17th birthday, Cullen rode the fastest time of 21 racers in the Individual Pursuit. His time of three minutes, 35 seconds over three kilometers was an average speed of 31.2 mph.

One day later, Cullen joined three of his Slipstream-Craddock teammates to win the four-man Team Pursuit from a field of nine teams. Their time of four minutes, 36 seconds over four kilometers was an average speed of 32.4 mph.

It was Cullen’s first time competing at the Track National Championships, as well as his first National Championship in cycling. Over the past four years, he has finished on the podium several times at both Road and Cyclocross USA Cycling National Championships.

Cullen’s winning performance qualifies him to compete for the United States at the World Junior Track Championships held in Invercargill, New Zealand, at the end of the August.

Cullen races for the Slipstream-Craddock Junior Development Team, out of Wimberly, Texas, which is managed by the same organization as the Garmin-Sharp Cycling Team racing at the Tour de France.

Cullen is traveling with his team to Belgium, to race there the rest of this summer.

This fall, he will be attending his Junior year of high school online, living at the Lone Star Works Cycling Academy in Texas.

His parents are Jim and Carla Cullen of Hudson.
