Robert G. Doughty, age 86, of Hudson, Wis., passed away on Aug. 10 in Duluth, Minn. He had been residing at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay, Minn., since fall of 2011.

Robert was born on Sept. 12, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Oscar Byron and Rose Therese (Fuehrer) Doughty. The marriage would be blessed with eight children: Arthur, Marian, Ronald, Richard, Maynard, Robert, Joyce, and Donald.

Robert proudly served his country in World War II with the Navy and the Korean War with the Army. His time with the Navy afforded him many opportunities to travel the world.

On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Dawn Rose Johannis in West Allis, Wis., a marriage that would be blessed with three children: Susan, Robin, and Steven.

He was an electrician for Wisconsin Electric Power Company for 40 years. Upon his retirement, he moved to Chetek, Wis., then to Hayward, Wis., and eventually settled in Hudson.

Fishing was a large priority in Robert's life as he enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors. He was a talented crafter, took great pride in his combined Irish heritage, and loved spending time at the casino. His faith in God was strong as he was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson. He loved his golden lab, Bess, and he was dearly loved by his family, friends, and especially his wife, Dawn. He was a fun-loving man and enjoyed spending time with those that he loved.

Robert is survived by his children Susan Dorner of Hudson and Robin Mueller of Ely, Minn.; grandchildren, Sean (Kristin) Doughty of St. Paul, Minn., Andrew Doughty of Denver, Colo., Peter Doughty of St. Paul, and Sarah (Frank) Grahek of Terre Haute, Ind.; great-grandsons, Landon and Carter Grahek of Terre Haute; siblings Joyce Lucas of Michigan and Donald (Dianne) Doughty of Ohio; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dawn; parents; son Steven Robert; and siblings Arthur, Marian, Ronald, Richard, and Maynard.

Interment will be at the Northern Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis.
