In the 1980s a group of Hudson residents raised money to support Special Olympics for area students with disabilities. The group continued to raise funds after the program became part of a larger regional effort headquartered in Eau Claire. Gerry Gilbert, one of the founders of the group, said the decision had been made to donate the money in the fund to the Hudson School District to support adaptive athletics for Hudson students with disabilities. He presented a check for $35,821 to school board vice president Lynn Robson at last week’s school board meeting. Gilbert and the group will work with the school district to distribute the funds as needed. More information on the plan for the funds is forthcoming.
