St Joseph firefighters will be a feature presentation at the Hudson Lions Ribfest scheduled Saturday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Willow River Saloon in Burkhardt.

Chairman Lyle Fridlund has made arrangements for over a dozen “cooks” to prepare their ribs.

“We’ll have live music, raffles, chainsaw carving, and some awesome ribs for folks to be eating,” Fridlund said. Beverages will be available through the Willow River Saloon, and Lions will be on hand to direct traffic.

The firefighters will have “Engine 1” on hand as well as a fire rescue truck for parents and children to see them close up. Plans call for the firefighters to do a cutting extrication demo on a wrecked car, offer tours, answer questions, and even talk to the public about becoming a volunteer in their department.

Jeff Amundson, fire department secretary, and Tim O’Brien, assistant chief EMS, will be on hand along with other members of the department between the hours of noon and 2 p.m. or longer.

Tickets for the third annual Hudson Lions Ribfest will be available on site, $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12 ($1 of each adult ticket will be donated to the fire department).
