Dear Editor,
Contrary to what others have stated the Planning Commission and the City Council got it “right” in regards to rezoning the Dog Track. Granted that 60 percent of the Hudson city voters voted for purchasing the dog
track property. However, those votes only accounted for 26 percent of all registered voters within the city.
We need to remember that the Planning Commission and City Council were appointed/elected to represent “all” of the citizens of Hudson, not just those that voted for the purchase. The School Board never had a complete
plan in mind.
What if the property was rezoned and then the bond issue to build a new school on it was defeated? Then, what we would do with that property? The city got it right. The School Board needs to do a better job putting together a plan to address the overcrowding that exists rather than just shooting from the hip.
