Letters-Where’s the truth?

Dear Editor,

I'm 67 years old and have seen things that defy common sense on a regular basis, so I shouldn't be amazed at this. People take oaths in court, we have truth in lending laws, truth in advertising laws, numerous documents that require a notary public stamp and so on. Honesty is required or, at least, expected.

But, when it comes to electing the folks that will lead our country for the next two-four years it's okay to lie. If you have a lot of money you can send out slick mailings containing lies, with footnotes and references to support these lies. You can create websites to perpetuate any lie you want. There isn't even an easy way to find out who the liar is, or who is funding these lies. There is no accountability, in this life at least.

One of life's little mysteries I guess.
