The Hudson Women’s Club will be entertained by the Hudson High School Swing Choir at the monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct 16, beginning at 1 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts.

The meeting is held in the River Room and is open to any interested women in the area, as well as community members (for the performance). The monthly meeting will be followed by the entertainment in the Black Box Theater and desserts and coffee.

Swing Choir is a curricular class that meets every other day, and members of the choir spend many hours outside of class performing throughout the community singing at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and community events.

The choir is under the direction of Kari Heisler, who is in her eighth year of teaching at the high school. She is a cum laude graduate of the College of St. Benedict. She is a member of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association, as well as the American Choral Directors Association. The choir will perform a variety of musical numbers, plus selections from the upcoming fall musical, “Music Man.”

The goals of the women’s club are to support and encourage the arts, as well as education. Membership dues of $20 will be collected. The group’s cookbooks are for sale and also note cards designed by local artists.
