Jermichael Finley’s play could be limited against Rams

Packers tight end Jermichael Finley has been limited at practice this week, and his playing time on Sunday could also be limited when Green Bay plays the Rams in St. Louis.

Finley injured a shoulder at Indianapolis 12 days ago. He managed to be a part of over 20 plays last Sunday night at Houston.

Coach Mike McCarthy said that at first his medical staff did not believe Finley could return so quickly, but he did, and the coach calls it a “huge credit” to him.

McCarthy said Finley wants to play some more against the Rams, but the team plans to be cautious because of what the doctors are seeing with his AC joint.

Meanwhile, the Rams have three injured starters who did not practice yesterday or Wednesday.

Receiver Danny Amendola has been out with an injured collarbone. Left tackle Rodgers Saffold might not play due to a knee injury, and his replacement Wayne Hunter has been out with a bad back.

If Hunter can’t go, Joe Barksdale would most likely get the start. The Rams obtained him off waivers from Oakland in late September.

Unbeaten UW-Oshkosh faces fifth-ranked UW-Whitewater

The UW-Oshkosh football team is 6-0 for the first time in 89 years, and the Titans hope to stay unbeaten Saturday with what would be a signature victory at UW-Whitewater.

Both teams are 3-0 in conference play. They lead third-place Eau Claire by one game in the WIAC.

Whitewater is fifth and Oshkosh 10th in this week’s D3Football.com poll. The Warhawks are 5-1 overall after their Week 2 loss to Buffalo State.

Whitewater still has a 27-game conference winning streak which Oshkosh hopes to ruin.

Warhawks coach Lance Leipold (says his team will have to play its best football to win Saturday.

Oshkosh coach Pat Cerroni expects his team to “get kicked in the mouth early” by Whitewater. He says if they can keep the game close, it could be interesting.

Oshkosh quarterback Nate Wara leads the WIAC with 218.5 passing yards a game, and total offense with 299 yards.

In other conference games, Eau Claire is at Stevens Point Saturday. Platteville, ranked 20th, hosts River Falls. Stout plays at La Crosse.
