Hudson soccer one win from state tourney

The Raider boys’ soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Wausau East Thursday night, Oct. 18, to advance to the WIAA Division 1 sectional final Saturday, Oct. 20, against Eau Claire Memorial. Hudson (19-4-2), the No. 2 seed in the 16-team bracket, and the top-seeded Old Abes (20-2-1) will meet for a berth in the state tournament at 2 p.m. at Chippewa Falls High School’s Dorais Field.

The Raider boys’ soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Wausau East Thursday night, Oct. 18, to advance to the WIAA Division 1 sectional final Saturday, Oct. 20, against Eau Claire Memorial.

Hudson (19-4-2), the No. 2 seed in the 16-team bracket, and the top-seeded Old Abes (20-2-1) will meet for a berth in the state tournament at 2 p.m. at Chippewa Falls High School’s Dorais Field. The winner will advance to the WIAA State Tournament next Thursday through Saturday at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

The two teams met twice during the regular season with Eau Claire Memorial winning both games by 2-0 scores.

In other postseason action Thursday night, the Hudson volleyball team saw its season come to an end in the WIAA regional semifinals with a 3-0 loss at Menomonie. The Mustangs advanced by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-13 and will face Marshfield in the regional final Saturday night in Marshfield.
