If it is the Friday night after Thanksgiving, then it must be Light-Up Night in Hudson, the official kick-off to the holiday season. Santa and some of his elves are scheduled to arrive in downtown Hudson around 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23.

The event was brought back by popular demand, after a brief hiatus, courtesy of the Celebrate Holidays Committee made up of some 50 local businesses. In addition to Santa’s arrival and the official holiday lighting, the evening will include music, refreshments and special events for children and shoppers.

The committee also sponsors two other popular holiday events in Hudson. The Candlelight Stroll set this year for Nov. 30 is geared for a more adult audience, downtown streets will be lined with luminary candles and tasty treats will tempt in shops and restaurants throughout downtown. Shoppers will find a variety of events staged at participating businesses. The event runs from 6-9 p.m.

Santa and his reindeer have made Hudson a stop on their pre-Christmas Eve tour for years now. As tradition dictates, they will be in Lakefront Park, along First Street, on Saturday, Dec. 1, from noon-4 p.m. Bring your camera and get up close to both Santa and his team.

And look for Santa again downtown in his Hudson home at Kelley Frame and Fine Art Gallery, 512 Second St., from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23. There will not be a photographer there but parents are encouraged to bring their own cameras to capture the magic of the moment. Santa’s visits are sponsored by Kelley’s and Lavender Thymes. For more information, call Kelley Gallery at (715) 386-4112.
