Roberta 'Bobby' Gray, 72

Roberta Joy "Bobby" Gray, age 72, of Hudson, Wis., died early on the morning of Nov. 24 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Roberta Joy "Bobby" Gray, age 72, of Hudson, Wis., died early on the morning of Nov. 24 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Bobby was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Gary, Ind., to parents Robert Samuel and Elva Virginia (Andersen) Powers. She moved with her family to Madison, Wis., where she attended elementary school and graduated from Madison West High School. Bobby then attended UW-Madison where she earned her degree in nursing.

Bobby worked as a school nurse for the Rondo School in St. Paul and for the Stillwater School District as well, but even more so, she enjoyed her time spent as a stay-at-home mom. Bobby would be united in marriage to Milo Arthur Gray on Aug. 7, 1978, in Watertown, S.D.

In her free time, Bobby enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed flower gardening and floral arranging. She enjoyed music, playing both the piano and the dulcimer, as well as other instruments.

Bobby was both a gifted painter and a talented quilt maker. She quilted with others as a member of the Hudson Heritage Quilters. As a quilter and a woman of faith, Bobby had a simple, inspirational truism that she availed in her life: "A day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels." A passionate Christian and gifted artist, Bobby shared her love of Christ with all she met. Her beautiful quilts will comfort those she loved. She will be missed by her family and many friends in Christ.

Bobby is survived by her husband, Milo; her sons: Jeff (Debra) Powers and their daughter, Emilia; Steven (Kristen) Gray and their children, Noah, Micah, and Ruth; stepsons: Robert (Cindy) Gray and foster son, Elijah; David (Sarah) Gray and their children, Gordon, Oliver, Calvin, and David Jr.; her mother, Elva Powers; and her sister, Virginia (Jim) LaMotte.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Samuel Powers, and her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Thompson.

Celebration of Life services for Bobby Gray will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Stillwater. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday, and from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27.
