Vlack seeks reelection as St. Croix Co. judge

Judge Edward Vlack, who presides over Branch 2 of the St. Croix County Circuit Court, has announced that he will seek reelection to that position in the April 2 spring election.

Judge Edward Vlack, who presides over Branch 2 of the St. Croix County Circuit Court, has announced that he will seek reelection to that position in the April 2 spring election.

Vlack was first elected a St. Croix County judge in 2001 and was reelected in 2007. Before being elected judge, he was in private practice, first in Hudson and then in River Falls, for over 25 years.

He was the St. Croix County Family Court commissioner from 1989 to 2001 and the Pierce County Family Court commissioner from 1985 to 2001.

Vlack said he is especially pleased with his participation in the creation of the St. Croix County Drug Court in 2006. On Wednesday mornings he presides over that court. On Wednesday afternoons, he presides over St. Croix County Juvenile Treatment Court, which he helped create in 2009.

Vlack is a dean on the Wisconsin Judicial College and one of its instructors at its annual week-long session held each August for Wisconsin judges. He has also instructed at seminars on juvenile law and currently is a member of a committee that is creating online training in juvenile law for judges.

Vlack has three daughters and four grandchildren. He is a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls and is one of six volunteers who record weekly masses for its shut-in church members. He is also a volunteer member of the River Falls Fire Department and holds the position of assistant fire chief for training.
