State Rep. Dean Knudson (R-Hudson) was appointed Friday by Assembly Speaker-elect Robin Vos (R-Burlington) to serve on the legislature’s powerful 16-member budget-writing committee.
The Joint Committee on Finance is responsible for reviewing all taxing and spending proposals in the legislature, and serves as a fiscal watchdog for the state government.
Speaker-elect Vos cited Knudson’s unique qualifications to serve on the Joint Committee on Finance.
“Rep. Knudson brings an important perspective to the finance team as a small business owner and former mayor,” said Speaker-elect Vos. “I am confident that he’ll protect the best interests of the taxpayer.”
“Wisconsin’s fiscal position has improved dramatically in the last 24 months, but there is still a lot of work left to do,” said Knudson. “My first priority in the coming session is to pass a budget that protects taxpayers, fosters economic growth, and enhances opportunities for all citizens.”
Knudson was recently re-elected to his second term in the legislature representing the 30th Assembly District. A practicing veterinarian, Knudson has also served as the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Colleges and Universities and as the Mayor of Hudson.
“I am also pleased to announce that Tim Lundquist has joined my office as Chief of Staff,” said Knudson. “His experience in state and federal politics make him a valuable addition to my team as we look to further our efforts to promote job growth and regulatory reform.” Lundquist, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, previously served as a policy advisor to Rep. Dan Knodl (R-Germantown), and as a legislative aide to U.S. Representative Steve LaTourette (R-OH).
