Cigar store burglar gets a surpriseA New Richmond man faces a burglary charge for breaking into a downtown business.
A New Richmond man is facing felony charges after he allegedly used a shovel to try and break into the St. Croix Cigar Co. on Second Street in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
According to the police report, around 4 a.m. Goldyray D. Yeazle, 31, used the shovel to try to break through a rear door of the cigar shop. What he did not realize was that the an employee of the store, who also happens to be a St. Croix County Sheriff’s deputy, along with another man, were inside and alerted authorities.
According to the criminal complaint, Yeazle tried to buy cigarettes at the store on Monday evening but couldn’t pay for them. The break-in was believed to be in retaliation.
Yeazle is charged with burglary and criminal damage to property.
