Some of the Packers played a practical joke on Aaron Rodgers by wearing his No. 12 jersey as they started practice Wednesday.

It was Aaron Rodgers Day in Wisconsin, and many state residents wore his jersey to work and school to celebrate the quarterback’s accomplishments on 12-12 of 2012.

Tackle T.J. Lang said Rodgers got a laugh out of it, and there are not many opportunities for teammates to poke fun at Rodgers because he’s so sensitive.

Woodson won’t be back for Bears game

Green Bay Packers defensive back Charles Woodson was ready to practice Wedneday, but was held out at the last minute.

Coach Mike McCarthy says Woodson will not play on Sunday against the Bears in Chicago. Woodson is mending from a broken collarbone suffered two months ago.

Team doctor Patrick McKenzie did not believe that Woodson was ready to play yet. McCarthy said he decided to sit out the veteran defender, based on information he received over the past couple of days.

Receiver Jordy Nelson is also expected to miss the Bears game with a bad hamstring. Cornerback Davon House did not take part in Wednesday’s workout due to illness.

Linebacker Clay Matthews practiced for the first time since early November after hurting a hamstring. Defensive end Mike Neal also returned to practice after hurting a shoulder a week and a half ago.
