Rachel Margaret Krier, 85, of Hudson, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 26, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo.

Rachel Margaret Krier, 85, of Hudson, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 26, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo.

She was born July 21, 1927, in New Richmond, Wis., the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Speers) Cody. She was raised in New Richmond and graduated from New Richmond High School. On July 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Krier at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls. This union would be blessed with six children.

Rachel and Larry raised their children in a Christian home full of love. Her faith was founded on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Serving her family as a wife, mother, and homemaker gave Rachel the utmost pleasure, and one of her greatest joys was the addition of a new baby to the family. Rachel was a caregiver and felt it her calling to help others. She and Larry traveled around the United States in their motorhome to help family and friends in need.

Rachel will forever remain in the hearts of her husband of 66 years, Lawrence; children, Sandra (Claude) O'Donnell of Belton, Texas, Joe (Sally) Krier of Menomonie, Mary (Scott) Pearson of Hudson, Jerry (Kathy) Krier of North Branch, Minn., James (Marcy) Krier of Hudson, Theresa (Timothy) Thomason of Paso Robles, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Cody of Hammond; and brother-in-law Jerry Voight of Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Edward (Leonette) Cody, John (Phyllis) Cody, Mary (Larry) Hawkins, Tom Cody, Collette (Leo) Krear, Barb Voight, Don Cody, Warren Cody, and Jerry Cody. Also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Solomon Michael Thomason and Colleen Ann Rocha.

A Celebration of Rachel's life will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, with a memorial service at 3 p.m., at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials to the family will be donated to Rachel's favorite charities.
