Jim Schrock will be the fourth candidate on the ballot for one of the two Hudson Board of Education seats that will be decided in the April 2 election.

Schrock and Matthew Kari were tied following the primary on Feb. 19 with 244 votes each. They remained tied at 245 votes each following an official canvas of the votes at the district administrative center Tuesday morning.

To break the tie, both candidates’ names were put in a hat with one being drawn by Mark Kumlien, Financial Services manager. The canvas was conducted by Kumlien and administrative assistants Diane Radle and Lois Zezza and included ballots postmarked on or before Feb. 19 but received after election day. Also included were vote totals from the city of Hudson that were recounted Monday night. See related story.

The other candidates are Bruce Hanson, Jamie Johnson and Jeanette Kunz. The final vote totals were:

--Kunz, 887

--Johnson, 886

--Hanson, 805

--Schrock, 245

Terms on the school board are three years. There are no incumbents in this year’s race.
