The annual Destination Imagination Instant Challenge Workshop was held recently at North Hudson Elementary School.
This workshop kicks off the final preparations for teams preparing to participate in regional competition. Teams of all ages take up four or five mini-challenges, five to eight minutes in length. The challenges are designed to get the students to “think on their feet, create on-the-fly and work as a team,” organizers say.
Older teams are paired with younger teams to help the less experienced students through the challenges.
This year’s regional tournament will be held on March 23 in Hudson. There will be 22 local teams competing at the elementary, middle and high school level. The top three teams in each challenge at each level will advance to the state competition April 13 in Stevens Point. From state, the top three teams in each challenge will advance to the Global Finals competition in Knoxville, Tenn., which are held in late May.
Hudson teams have competed at the global level for the past 10 consecutive years.
