Members of the Hudson Area Swim Association (HASA) had a strong showing at the recent Minnesota 2013 Regional Championship meet in Richfield. Hosted by the Richfield Piranhas swim club, the meet was a season-ending championship for swimmers with entry times equal to or faster than “B” but slower than “Champ.”
As a team, HASA placed second in the “AA” division, and seventh overall out of 17 area swim teams. Thirty HASA swimmers posted 19 new “Champ” times and 105 personal best swims.
Two HASA swimmers, Sven Becker (8 and under boys) and Adam Berdusco (9-10 boys), won high point awards for their age groups. Becker posted two new “Champ” times in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly, and a new “A” time in the 100 individual medley. Berdusco achieved new “Champ” times in the 100 backstroke, 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and a new “A” time in the 50 breaststroke.
HASA athletes took first place in ten individual events.
HASA relay teams had a strong showing at the meet as well. Out of nine HASA relays, three of them took top awards.
Over 20 HASA athletes will now advance to the Age Group State Meet in Rochester, Minn.
The long course season for the team begins April 1. For more information about HASA, go to www.hudsonswimteam.org.
