Bucks coach expected to get pink slip today; team loses final game
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Larry Krystkowiak will meet this morning (Thursday) with new General Manager John Hammond.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Larry Krystkowiak will meet this morning (Thursday) with new General Manager John Hammond.
All indications are that he’ll be fired after the Bucks ended a 26-56 season Wednesday night with an overtime loss at Minnesota, 110-101.
Krystkowiak was in tears when he met with reporters afterward, saying he was partially disappointed and partially relieved.
He said it was quite an experience, and this was not the way he thought it would work out.
Krystkowiak, a fan favorite in his Bucks’ playing days, went 31-69 since replacing fired coach Terry Stotts late last season.
Hammond says there’s no reason to wait to decide Krystkowiak’s future and it’s the fairest thing to both him and the team.
Rookie point guard Ramon Sessions led the Bucks in their finale with 25 points and 14 assists.
Milwaukee blew a 16-point third quarter lead and Randy Foye dominated the overtime with 10 points. He led the Timberwolves with 32 on the night.
It was the Bucks’ eighth straight loss.
Meanwhile, Hammond says player personnel director Dave Babcock will stay in that role. He also plans an addition to the front office staff soon.
