At least one Wisconsin Dells resort is offering free gas to attract far-away tourists this summer.
Those who arrive at the Kalahari on Sunday or Monday, and stay four nights, will get $40 gas cards when they check out.
They’ll also get $40 off for each of the four nights.
Kalahari has waterpark resorts in the Dells and Sandusky, Ohio.
Spokeswoman Shannon McCarthy said the Ohio resort got rave reviews when it ran a similar promotion last summer.
McCarthy hopes the discounts will make it easier for folks to plan a vacation. Earlier this month, Dells tourist officials said they were planning on a strong summer – especially banking on folks who stay closer to home.
Romy Snyder of the Dells Tourism bureau says some campgrounds report their highest reservations in 20 years, as more green and economy-minded folks are roughing it.
On average, half of all Dells visitors come from Wisconsin, and most of the rest live up to four hours away.
