Rains don't stop state softball tourney

Point remained unbeaten after eliminating Wausau West 6-1 in last night’s semi-finals in Madison.
Verona topped Hartland Arrowhead 6-3 in the other semi.
Rain delayed the start of the tournament by four hours, but all of the scheduled contests got in.
In the earlier quarter-finals, Stevens Point eliminated Oak Creek 8-1. Wausau West got by Mequon Homestead 6-5.
Verona took a 1-0 game over Middleton and Arrowhead did away with Appleton East 4-1.
Today (Friday), semi-finals will be played in three other divisions.
The Division 4 semis are up first. Thorp will face Burlington Catholic Central and Chippewa Falls McDonell takes on Highland.
The Division 3 semis will be played this afternoon. Sevastopol, the tournament’s only returning champion, goes against unbeaten Oakfield. And Park Falls plays La Crosse Aquinas.
The Division 2 semi-finals will wrap up today’s action.
Southern Door plays New Berlin Eisenhower and Rice Lake faces Monroe.
All four title games are set for Saturday.
