A judge has dropped a restraining order which prevented Libertarian House candidate Kevin Barrett from seeing his 11- and 13-year-old sons.
But at a hearing Thursday, Sauk County Circuit Judge Guy Reynolds also told Barrett to keep staying away from his wife.
She asked for the restraining orders after Barrett allegedly hurt his 13-year-old in the back on the morning of the Sept. 9 primary at his home near Lone Rock.
Barrett defeated Ben Olson that day, and is now one of three finalists for the House seat held by U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis., of La Crosse.
Barrett is due back in court Oct. 16 to face a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He has denied hurting his son.
Barrett told the Baraboo News-Republic his wife threatened to have him arrested if his family didn’t give her a large sum of money.
Barrett made headlines in 2006, when he told students at University of Wisconsin-Madison that the Bush administration caused the Sept. 11 attacks.
