Wall Street Journal editorial doesn’t convince Wisconsin Congressman

The Wall Street Journal apparently didn’t get the word that U.S. Rep Paul Ryan, R-Wis., of Janesville, was not interested in being the new House minority leader.

The Wall Street Journal apparently didn’t get the word that U.S. Rep Paul Ryan, R-Wis., of Janesville, was not interested in being the new House minority leader.

Ryan said no to a group of Republicans last week, saying the job would put too much of a burden on his young family.

After a weekend Wall Street Journal editorial, Ryan’s news secretary says the congressman won’t change his mind.

The Journal said the GOP needs to take the high ground, especially on the economy. And it called the Ryan, 38, the right man to “offer an effective argument against the interventionist, anti-growth convention wisdom that dominates the majority party in Congress.”

The Journal also calls Ryan a “proven communicator with a proven track record of winning over voters who aren’t die-hard Republicans.
